He has recorded guitar for chart-topping, award winning and platinum pop music artists and producers in Asia and the USA, under or associated with brands such as Universal, Warner, OMF Music and American Idol.
On scholarship at Berklee College of Music, he was recognized for excellence in composition with the Herb Pomeroy and Thad Jones Awards, and was invited to write music for high profile events involving, Patti Austin, Siedah Garrett, Annie Lennox, Carole King and Willie Nelson.
He has been an invited speaker on the topic of video game music at MIT, The Indie Game Collective, and also advised students from Becker College and Worcester Polytechnic through the MassDIGI program.
Xiao'an has written and produced music for a range of mobile, casual, educational and PC games across 5 countries, one of which won Best Audio at the Boston Festival of Indie Games. He has also written for short films and corporate jingles, and was a sound design finalist for the European Talent Award at Soundtrack Cologne.
His music has been premiered with groups led by noted composers Phil Wilson (The Rainbow Band) and Ken Pullig (Ken Pullig's Jazz Composition Ensemble), as well as the Boston Scoring Orchestra and the Kalistos Chamber Orchestra.
He has been music director and/or producer in a range of projects including the Richard Salter Orchestral Project, Classical Oasis (a classical crossover performance group), and East Coast Scoring, a music production and orchestral contracting company.
Xiao'an is a Singaporean composer based in Boston. His career began as a guitarist, performing nationally with rock and jazz bands, and the Singapore Armed Forces, which he toured with in Australia, Brunei and Singapore. In Boston, he played guitar for Top 40s band Modabeat and was a pit musician in productions led by award winning music director Nicholas Connell.
